by Andrew CaringiRacer Jeff Bloch is known for his creativity when it comes to building race cars. His latest creation, Trippy Tippy Hippy Van, is a Volkswagen camper van tipped on its side.Bloch, who is known as “Speedycop,” is famous for building race cars from helicopters, an upside-down Camaro, and even a hot dog stand. To build his latest ride, Bloch started with the camper van’s 1.8-liter, 16-valve GTI engine and bus body panels attached sideways. For aesthetics, he also used one-way vinyl mounted to various body parts so that people could see through the car while still maintaining the appearance of the van’s original body panels.Bloch created the Trippy Tippy Hippy Van to race in this year’s 24 Hours of LeMons, a 24-hour endurance test for cars worth under $500. Although the Trippy Tippy Hippy Van didn’t win, it cruised for 224 laps before breaking down.
