Documentary filmmakers in Malaysia stepped into the world of virtual reality (VR) at a workshop held in Kuala Lumpur on June 22, 2017.
VR is a simulation where a user dons a headset which immerses them into an artificial, seemingly interactive environment cut off from the outside world.
Industry experts Lionel Chok, Cornel Hillman and Bryan Seah took the audience through the history and science behind the technology, the process of making VR content and the potential for VR in the region.
VR is most often seen in gaming and media, but it has also found applications in fields such as education, property and medicine.
It allows content creators to explore a new and immersive way of telling a story.
