What really happens when you crack your knuckles,
and is it bad for you? Synovial fluid is the substance between your joints. When you stretch them out, you release a gas that forms a bubble and pops. It's essentially your joints just farting. It also tends to feel good because it stimulates your nerve endings. But is it dangerous? A handful of studies have found no correlation to to harmful effects like arthritis.
