President Trump told the New York Times that he would not have hired Sessions for the position of Attorney General had he known Sessions would recuse himself from the Russia probe. Sessions, the head of the Department of Justice, disqualified himself from the ongoing investigation between the Trump organization and Russia after it was discovered Sessions lied under oath about meeting with a Russian ambassador. When asked if Sessions would resign he replied that he and DOJ would continue to work in the national interest and to further the Trump administration's goals so long as it was appropriate.
