Comey's friend said memos were never marked 'classified'

Daniel Richman, the friend and confidant of former FBI Director James Comey, is speaking out. "No memo was given to me that was marked 'classified... the substance of the memo passed on to the Times was not marked classified and to my knowledge remains unclassified." Back in June during the Senate testimony, Comey explained the memo he passed on to Richman: "My thinking was, if I write it in such a way that I don't include anything that would trigger a classification, that'll make it easier for us to discuss, within the FBI and the government, and to -- to hold on to it in a way that makes it accessible to us." John Solomon, a reporter from The Hill, claimed that officials who are familiar with the documents said they did contain classified information. CNN has yet to confirm if any of the documents have been upgraded to a classified status.
