Postobón Is Feeding Colombia’s Homeless With Leftovers

by Jonathan SangerWhat if you could regularly give your leftover food to a homeless person? In Colombia, you can do just that.Postobón, the nation’s largest beverage company, has created a box that people can use to wrap up their leftovers and give to someone in need. Postobón initially launched the campaign on social media, asking followers to not throw out food that was in good condition, but instead offer it to the homeless. To help with this endeavor, Postobón developed a special box made of card paper so that people can pack their food and deliver it.The proposal is an effort to modify Colombia’s culture of waste and adopt the habit of sharing, which could solve two major problems in the country. There are 40,000 homeless people in Colombia, and about 3.4 million tons of wasted food.
