Leslie Jones, Gal Gadot and Others Asked to Join the Academy

Welcome to the Academy.
Yep, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is inviting 774 new members to join its rank after people criticized it of being too whitewashed.
Invitees include the likes of Leslie Jones, The Rock, and Wonder Woman herself Gal Gadot.
And several Saturday Night Live alums also received invites… like Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Kate McKinnon.
The film academy reports that the new class of potential members is 39 percent female and 30 percent non-white.
Film directors Barry Jenkins and Jordan Peele were also asked to join the Academy…
And so were Riz Ahmed and Chris Pratt and Anna Faris.
Still no word if these celebs actually accepted the invite, but there’s one thing we do know: it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
