Ferrari F1 Gran Prix of Azerbaijan 2017

It is the most "young" of the circuits in the calendar and the second for length after Spa, with its 6003 meters. But it is also one of the strangest tracks of this Formula 1 calendar. A town track in the center of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, which however boasts a nearly straight section of 2.1 km, more than one-third of total development, to be run by full gas. Last year, a top speed of over 378 kmh was recorded. This year the F1 cars will hardly reach these values because of the greater load and the larger wheels. But finding the right fit in Baku will always be a difficult exercise for pilots and engineers, who in deciding on the optimum aerodynamic load level must balance the slower traction needs with the need to run straight. A circuit thus puts a strain on traction, in the most guided curves: and it is also challenging for energy recovery. Scuderia Ferrari's avant-gardes have already arrived in the capital on the shores of the Caspian Sea on weekends. A city that - just like its circuit - has two faces: a dynamic and modern, the other more historic and intimate. The weather announces sunny days, with temperatures that are less suffocating than the Italian ones these days. The tires chosen by Pirelli are Medium, Soft and Supersoft (here the degradation is greater than in Monaco or Montreal).
