2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo - Ghost Car!
The 2017 Porsche Panamera Gives You 550HP, Lots of Tech and Better Looks

The second-generation Panamera Turbo packs a new chassis, active suspension, 550 horses and a fresh interior for $146,000, while the 440hp 4S will be yours for $99,990.

It seems like pretty much everything we wished to be true about the 2017 Porsche Panamera will be granted, as Porsche's new four-door is faster, better looking and way more cutting edge than the current model. Long live mid-mounted analog tachometers in luxury barges!

2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo

For a cool $146,000, Porsche gives you a 4.0 with a pair of centrally positioned turbos, direct injection and cylinder-deactivation, which in effect turns it into a four-cylinder. At full beans, the new engine produces 550 hp at 5750 rpm and 567 lb-ft between 1960 and 4500 rpm. The eight-speed PDK gearbox, the all-wheel drive and the three-chamber air suspension system are standard, while for what I must assume to be quite a lot of extra dough, you can order yours with Porsche's 4D suspension system, which integrates all aspects of vehicle dynamics together.

You can also opt for electric anti-roll control front and rear (I'm guessing powered by a 48V subsystem), rear axle steering just like on a GT3 and GT3 RS, Night Vision Assistant, which is an infra-red system highlighting pedestrians and animals in the dash display, and adaptive cruse control combined with navigation data that allows the Panamera to adjust speed not only for vehicles in front, but in relation to terrain.

The 2017 Panamera Turbo weighs 4398 lbs—otherwise known as 2 tons—and will get to 62mph in 3.6 seconds, or 3.4 with the Sport Chrono package. It's also, Porsche claims, the world's fastest 4-door around the Nurburgring, as the automaker hinted last week.

2017 Porsche Panamera 4S

The 2.9 twin-turbo V6 also has its turbos between the cylinder banks for higher thermal efficiency, producing 440 horsepower at 5650 rpm, and 405 lb-ft between 1750 and 5500 rpm. All-wheel drive, electro mechanical steering and the PDK gearbox are standard for $99,990, but the air suspension and the rest of the new tech is optional on this model. The base car weighs 4123 pounds, and will jump to 62mph in 4.2/4.0s depending on the Sport Chrono situation.

Inside all new Panameras, you get a 12.3 inch touchscreen with a combination of capacitive touch controls and physical switches in the center console. Behind the flawlessly wrapped steering wheel, you'll find dual seven-inch screens divided by an analog tachometer in the middle. Oh yeah.

2017 Porsche Panamera Diesel and Hybrid

Yes, there is one. No, it isn't coming to the U.S. It makes 420 horsepower. There will also be two hybrid versions, though we haven't heard details on those just yet.

Sales start today, while tonight, we'll have a chat with the people behind the car. Stay tuned for more.
