Supercouloir - T16 First Ascent, South Summit
Deep seated in the Himalayas the forlorn frontier that is the Zanskar range, seldom sees any action. However, the mountains were recently visited by a veteran Roamanian climbing couple - Cosmin Andron and Cristina Pogacean.
Armed with the enthusiasm and skill for alpine exploration, the couple (along with a team of Indian Climbers) set their eyes on the summit of the peaks T13 and T16. Their initial attempts on the former were foiled by incessant activity on the North face; which prompted them to select a clean line leading to the south summit of T16.
Quick thinking, a two day push, a "supercouloir" and a few sketchy moments indeed made for the perfect recipe to nail the first ascent on the south face of the peak, that is T16.
