141 men arrested when police raid ‘gay party’ in Jakarta, Indonesia

JAKARTA, INDONESIA — 141 people were arrested during a raid on what police are describing as a “gay sex party” at a sauna and gym in North Jakarta on Sunday, May 21. The scale of the arrests has made international headlines.

Police say at least two foreign nationals, including one British man, were among those arrested at the event, promoted under the name “The Wild One”. Police believe attendees were charged $14 for music, strippers and other attractions.

A spokesperson for Jakarta police said the venue was under surveillance for up to two weeks, before they struck at at 7:30pm while the event was underway.

Among those detained are staff and security at the venue, as well as its owners.
The spokesperson said officers seized security camera recordings and condom wrappers as evidence, and said that organizers and attendees could be charged under Indonesia’s strict anti-pornography laws.

Police have arrested suspects and charges of pornography with evidence of condoms scattered on the floor. Include 141 men who participating in gay parties also arrested.
