No. 2 seed South Alabama advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship with a 3-0 win against No. 7 seed UT Arlington on Friday afternoon at Bobcat Ballpark.

South Alabama junior Randy Bell threw a complete game, three-hitter on just 89 pitches and added two strikeouts. Bell did not allow a runner past second until the ninth inning, and allowed just one to advance past first heading into the frame. The Jaguars (40-19) turned three double plays in support of their starter.

South Alabama advanced to the semifinals with the win and will face No. 6 seed Georgia Southern. By virtue of advancing from the loser’s bracket, the Jaguars must win two games against Georgia Southern to advance to the championship game. The first game is set for a 9 a.m. CT first pitch on Saturday with the “if necessary” game scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
