by Anthony FalcoUniversity of Minnesota researchers have developed a tiny sensor that can be 3D-printed directly onto fingertips…allowing a robot to one day get a sense of touch or a human to regain it after an injury. The early prototype consists of two layers of silicone and a sandwiched coil that conducts electricity when compressed. The printing process takes a few minutes but it needs to set overnight.Researchers hope to next print the sensor on a real human hand…and unlock our bionic potential!
