New Orleans removes Confederate monument of President Jefferson Davis

Authorities removed a statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in New Orleans Thursday morning. Following protests and demonstrations, the statue is one of four confederate monuments currently being removed. The city decided to remove the statues because they don't "reflect the values of diversity and inclusion that make New Orleans strong today." The first statue, the Liberty Monument erected in 1891, was removed last month in the middle of the night.
