RUŽOMBEROK, SLOVAKIA — A couple of cyclists in northern Slovakia were recently biking down a mountain when a wild, and possibly hungry, brown bear caught sight of them.
Footage captured by trailing cyclist Dusan Vinžík’s helmet cam is now going viral on YouTube, having amassed more than 150,000 views in just a few hours. The video shows the bear run into frame and bound after the leading cyclist at full tilt. Their encounter took place at famed ski resort Malinô Brdo during the offseason.
Fortunately for the two cyclists, the bear decided to give up and head back to the woods. Vinžík did a lot of yelling to scare the bear off too, which may have played a role in the animal retreating.
