The Front National’s Marine Le Pen lost in her bid to become French president on May 7, with Emmanuel Macron sweeping to victory with 66 percent of votes. In her concession speech, Le Pen said France had chosen “continuity”.Le Pen said she would lead a “profound transformation of our movement” to make it “a new force” in French politics that was “more necessary than ever.”The contentious election sees Macron inherit a fractured and divided country. In his victory speech he vowed to protect the French republic.
