One day, when Toby is traveling on the tramway, he meets Graham, who jokes about him needing to adapt to the road, just like he has adapted to the rails. Soon, Graham's joke becomes an unexpected event in Toby's life come true, when the icy rails at the place where Thomas met the angry policeman break apart, and Toby derails.
