AUSTIN, TEXAS — A 21-year-old biology student was taken into custody by police after he went on a bloody stabbing spree at the University of Texas at Austin on Monday.

The Texas Tribune reports that around 1:46 p.m., Kendrex White began attacking students with a large Bowie-style hunting knife at the UT Austin campus.

He slashed more victims as he walked along a busy area near the library, dormitories, and a business school building, and had just stabbed a man when police apprehended him near the gym.

White stabbed four men during the attack, which lasted mere minutes. Three of the men are white, while one is Asian. One victim, later identified as Harrison Brown, died at the scene, reports KVUE.

Authorities have yet to charge White with a crime, and will be interviewing more than 25 witnesses in order to try and establish a motive for the attack, and whether it was random or targeted.
