ST. LOUIS — A would-be robber is dead after his plan to hold-up a St. Louis 7-Eleven backfired quite spectacularly.

An unidentified store clerk was on her smoke break when Derrell Mayes threatened her with a gun, according to the St. Louis Dispatch.

The clerk pulled out her own weapon and there was an exchange of gunfire. She took two slugs to the leg but came off the better as Mayes was shot dead with bullets to the leg, arm and chest.

Locals are calling the 35-year-old clerk a “she-ro.” She’s reportedly stable in a local hospital.
