The Austrian presidential election between Alexander Van der Bellen and Norbert Hofer will take place on 4 December. Should he win, Hofer, from the right-wing Freedom Party of Austria, founded by Nazi sympathisers, would become the first far-right leader of a major European country for decades. IBTimes UK spoke to Professor Matthew Goodwin, a visiting senior fellow at Chatham House and expert on the right in Europe, about the election and what it means for the rise of populism across the continent.
