The Screen Actors Guild Foundation provides vital assistance and educational programming to the professionals of SAG-AFTRA while serving the public at large through its signature children's literacy programs. Founded in 1985, the SAG Foundation is a national non-profit organization, independent from SAG-AFTRA, and relies solely on support from grants, corporate sponsorships and individual contributions to maintain its programs and create new ones.
The SAG Foundation hosts two charity golf tournaments in Los Angeles and New York to benefit its Catastrophic Health Fund and Assistance Programs that provide a vital safety net for performers and their families when medical and financial hardships arise. Since 2010, the SAG Foundation has raised more than $1.2 million for performers in crises with the help of the entertainment industry and some of Hollywood's biggest celebrities.
