Rajya Sabha passes Mental Heath Care Bill, decriminalises suicide | Oneindia News

The Rajya Sabha on Monday passed Mental Heath Care Bill which has decriminalized suicides. At present, attempt to suicide is a punishable offense, for which a person can booked under Section 309 of the IPC. The bill also says that government shall provide "care, treatment and rehabilitation" of any one who attempted to commit suicide to reduce the risk of recurrence.
