Hope you guys found this video helpful - if you did please give it a thumbs up/like!
CLIFF NOTES:
1) Set a MOVING DATE - this will help not only for accountability purposes, but all of your timelines!
2) What are you bringing? MAKE A LIST.
3) Start SELLING everything you're NOT taking (forums like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are your FRIENDS!)
4) Plan to give your EMPLOYER notice (this may seem a trivial part of the process, but its important for timing purposes. Circle your moving date on a calendar in red, and 2 weeks to 1 month prior to that, circle the date you plan to give notice)
5) Research where you plan to live - do your homework on your future neighborhood.
6) Can you afford to live alone? If not, find a ROOMIE!
7) Roomate Hunting - check the 'Rooms Shared' section of Craigslist! Thats where I found mine and its a great resource for meeting people.
8) Plan a TRIP! I highly recommend booking a trip PRIOR to moving - you can look at apartments in person, survey the area, meet your roomate, and hand out resumes!
9) Book your MOVING TRUCK - but be aware, do your RESEARCH! Companies that severely undercut others should scream SCAM to you!
10) Plan ahead! The less SUPRISES the better! Try and line up a job, if not - have ample savings for emergency situations. Also, have funds set aside for tipping the moving truck, hotels, gas, etc en route to your destination, and some play money so you can enjoy your travels.
SCAM ALERT: Olympus Moving - I worked with a nice woman named Natalie, but the foreman who showed up was rude, and tried to make me pay an additional $500 when I had a signed contract!
I wound up using Express Line Moving was Express Line Moving - they were really nice, fairly priced, and accommodating!
My JOB SEARCH in L.A - be prepared to LAUGH (or CRY) for me!
