Drone Footage Captures Aftermath of Florida Wildfire Near Weeki Wachee

A bush fire near Weeki Wachee, close to Hernando Beach, Florida, decimated about 1,100 acres during the weekend of April 9 before reaching about 90% containment by Tuesday, April 11.This footage shows smoke rising from the fire as well as the aftermath from above.
The blaze in Hernando County was likely sparked by lightning, according to a report.
Close to 100 wildfires were burning across more than 20,000 acres in Florida, PBS reported, prompting Governor Rick Scott to issue a state of emergency and call for help from the Florida National Guard.
In a press release on the governor’s website, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam was quoted as saying that the state hadn’t seen a wildfire season so active since 2011. Credit: Jesse Huard-Gauthier via Storyful
