SWAT: A 5.1 intensity earthquake rocked various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) including Swat, Mingora, Mansehra and Lower Dir on Tuesday.

According to he Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the depth of tremors was 159 km.

People rushed out of their homes in panic reciting verses from the Holy Quran. No loss of life was reported in the earthquake.

“The epicentre of the quake was in Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan,” PMD officials said.

Last month, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas with the epicentre of the quake near Hazro in Punjab.

In October last year, a 7.5-magnitude quake hit across Pakistan and Afghanistan, killing around 400 people and flattening buildings in the rugged terrain.
