Pet dog mauls owner to death in front of BBC film crew

LONDON — A north London apartment became the scene of a bloody attack earlier this month, after a Staffordshire bull terrier turned on its master, viciously mauling him to death.

The dog’s owner, Mario Perivoitos, 41, was a known drug addict. Because of frequent fighting and shouting complaints, he had a temporary closure order put on his home. Despite the order preventing anyone except Perivoitos from entering the apartment, a BBC film crew had been present at his home that night.

The BBC reporters had been interviewing the man when his pet Staffie suddenly attacked, going for his jugular.

Neighbors reported hearing Perivoitos’ screams as his beloved pet sank its teeth into his neck. He was bleeding heavily on the floor while the BBC crew called for help.

The poor man was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead just two hours later due to massive blood loss.

Police questioned the film crew for violating the closure order, but let them go after determining they were there for an interview.

The dog, meanwhile, was seized and put in a kennel.
