Israel decriminalizes marijuana use, implements fine system instead

Israel has just decriminalized the use of recreational marijuana. The government approved guidelines to only fine first-time offenders If caught the first time, users will be fined around $270. The fine doubles if caught on a second occasion. If caught smoking in public for the third time, users will undergo probation. Only on the fourth occasion will there be a criminal charge involved. Israel is currently leading research and innovation regarding the use of medical marijuana.
