A new study found that kids playing soccer and football are at risk of damaging their knees. In particular, an anterior cruciate ligament tears have risen steady over the last two decades in kids between the ages of 6 and 18. The number of occurrences also indicate ACL tears are rising annually by 2-percent. The lead researcher stated these injuries peak in high school. Dr. Nicholas Beck added that girls also have a higher rate of ACL injuries. Sports that involve quick movements like pivoting are the riskiest for ACL tears.
