PAYSON, UTAH — A high school teacher in Spanish Fork, Utah who was already charged with giving alcohol to a minor and having sex with him is in even more hot water after a second student told the police he drank and had sex with her, too.
Sarah Lindsay Lewis, a 27-year-old teaches social studies and dance teacher at Landmark High school, was charged last month with having sex and drinking with a 17-year-old student, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
In January, the student went to Lewis’s home to drink vodka. The pair made out and had sex in Lewis’s bedroom, and the teen recorded the incident with his phone.
A second 17-year-old student told police that he and Lewis had a similar encounter in December. They texted each other via Snapchat, and Lewis sent him a picture of her drinking with a caption that read, “Let’s party.”
Lewis picked up the student on Dec. 28 and got whiskey for them at a liquor shop. She then took him back to her place. The student told police the pair drank until they were “very drunk” and had sex in Lewis’s bedroom.
Nebo School District officials said Lewis was placed on leave immediately after they learned of the allegations. She was arrested on Jan. 24 and is being held in the Utah County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. She is expected in court again on Feb. 27.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, her bail was increased this week by a judge who told attorneys she was a danger to society. The judge said “providing someone with alcohol is what sex offenders do” and was “grooming-type behavior.”
