receiving a false-positive on a mammogram can be an emotional and jarring experience for women. According to UPI, some women decide to skip their next mammogram after receiving a false positive because of the emotional distress they experience. Experts say this is a potential fatal mistake. According to a new study, women with false positives were up to 36 percent less likely to schedule a follow up. This indicates that there needs to be more support for women who receive a false positive to encourage them to come back and get checked.
