It does not change anything about getting around the station but it impacts the access to the station.
This station has a lot of stairs and the escalators inside the station were not working. Porters, aka, "red caps" are available to help you carry your luggage.

The trains from Nanning to Hanoi depart from the other station. We found that the best way to transfer between the two stations is to take a train. At the time of our visit, the subway was not connecting the two stations yet.
