Racing Dolphins in Musandam, Oman

The Musandam Peninsula is a region of Oman separated from the country’s mainland by the U.A.E., making it an ideal day’s escape from all the glitz of Dubai. Once there, rent a dhow (the traditional ship of the region) to explore the coastline’s jagged landscape of fjord-like khors. Humpback dolphins that call the waters home have become so accustomed to the presence of dhows that they actively seek them out for some high-speed entertainment—and they have no trouble keeping up.
