A recent article posted at readersdigest.ca reveals that all back pain is not the same. Back pain can have many root causes, some of which can lead to serious spinal damage. Mechanical back pain is usually caused by bad habits, such as leaning into a laptop all day. Straining and lifting heavy objects is also a cause of undue pain. Playing sports, working out or ruptured disks are causes that can adversely affect the spine. Symptoms of mechanical back pain include muscle tension and stiffness, weakness in the legs or feet, and tingling or burning that travels down into the glutes and legs. Mechanical back pain can happen at any age and usually develops rather quickly.
