Britain's stock market index kicked off 2017 with an all-time record high on Tuesday, as manufactures pick up more business. London's FTSE 100 jumped 0.5 percent and reached a historic peak of 7,205.21 points by morning and afternoon trading. The FTSE 100 has a struck highs within the last few months is related to the 20 percent fall in the value of the pound following Brexit. Before the vote in June, the pound was trading as high as $1.50 and is now going for $1.23. It is believed the fall in the pound can increase import costs, therefore decreasing business and consumer spending in the long run.
