New French law says employees can ignore emails after work hours

France rung in a new law starting Jan. 1 giving workers the "right to disconnect" and ignore work emails outside of typical working hours. The new law requires companies with more than 50 employees to draft a policy limiting work-related technology usage outside the office, according to The Guardian. The law comes in attempt to prevent worker burnout and establish work flexibility. The measure was first introduced by labor minister Myriam El Khomri, who submit the report in September 2015. The French research group Eleas published a study in October showing that more than a third of French workers used their devices to work outside of typical hours.
