Shahid Kapoor: 'Haider made me feel inadequate as an actor'

Shahid Kapoor, who'll play the titular role in Haider, which is Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, says that he felt inadequate as an actor while playing the iconic character. At the trailer launch, when Kapoor was asked how did he prepare for the role, he said, ''I'm very fortunate to be a part of a film like Haider and to get the opportunity to play the character of Hamlet, which I think is a very rare opportunity that a very few actors all over the world have got. It was very difficult to prepare for the role. I had support of some fantastic actors and that really helped me a lot. Being in the same frame with actors like Tabu mam, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan sir was a huge learning experience for me. It gave me a lot of confidence about the product that we were trying to create.'' ''I think Vishal sir has given me probably the best role of my life so far, which was what I did in Kaminey and it's amazing to get an opportunity to work with him again and the only reason I thought I may be able to pull this off was because I knew that I had him directing me. I spent a lot of time with him and he really helped me through the entire journey but this is one role that makes you feel very inadequate as an actor. Every day when I was on the sets the inherent feeling that I had was that I don't think I'm good enough to play this role and I used to keep running to everybody for reassurance because it is that kind of role,'' he further added. Shahid will be seen opposite Shraddha Kapoor in the film, which is slated to release on October 2.
