New York chef pleads guilty to spanking it in public yet again

NEW YORK CITY — Once recognized as a renowned restaurateur in Manhattan, Dan Hoyt is now best known for being a shameless pervert.

The 54-year-old chef gained acclaim for heading up Quintessence, a raw vegan restaurant he opened in New York’s East Village back in 1999. The chef has been busted for public masturbation several times over the past two decades.

On Jan. 12, Hoyt allegedly walked up to a woman on a subway platform and asked her if he could masturbate to her. She wasn’t interested, but Hoyt still ran behind a subway beam and masturbated while leering at her.

Days earlier on Jan. 1, Hoyt was standing on the very same subway platform and reportedly did the same deed to another woman. The next night, the woman happened to be riding the subway again, and noticed Chef Dan walking toward her, bottomless, to terrorize her.

Hoyt’s first offense was also on a subway platform in 1994, and then again in a highly publicized incident where he was caught masturbating in front of a young woman on a subway in 2005. The woman, Thao Nguyen, had the good sense to take a photo before Hoyt took off. Nguyen uploaded the pictures online, and it landed Chef Dan on the cover of the New York Daily News.

“The only way he is going to stop is if he gets fixed,” Nguyen told the New York Post in January after Hoyt's latest offenses.

To date, Hoyt has been arrested for his deplorable deeds six times. The charge has repeatedly been public lewdness, as well as charges of harassment in the second degree, exposure, and resisting arrest. His punishments have included probation, mandatory counselling, and a 75-day jail sentence for a 2008 incident in Brooklyn.

For his latest offense, Hoyt has been sentenced to serve more jail time. He’ll appear in court again next month to sort out his outstanding crimes that took place Jan. 1 and 2.
