World Snowboard Tour

Established in 2002 by snowboard icon Terje Haakonsen alongside leading event organisers and industry representatives, the World Snowboard Tour (formerly TTR) formed the first pro series with the ambition of being the most innovative and grass-roots tour, connecting the most prestigious snowboard events around the world.

Today, the World Snowboard Tour features more than 300 events globally with over 3,000 riders, all competing for glory and a prize fund of $2.5million in front of crowds of up to 35,000 spectators. The Pro Series is formed of the elite international competitions which attracts the top riders and offers the most ranking points.

With the biggest names in both male and female snowboarding such as Shaun White, Ayumu Hirano, Mark McMorris, Jamie Anderson and Kelly Clark all having won titles and fame on the tour, it’s not surprising that to be crowned World Snowboard Tour Champion is the most sought after title in snowboarding. The athletes on the tour are constantly pushing the limits of the sport with 80ft airs, technical rail setups and triple corks.

Last season Kelly Clark and Jamie Anderson (USA) both took home their 4th trophy in the respective Halfpipe and Slopestyle disciplines; in addition to a bronze medal in this year’s Sochi Olympics for Kelly, and the first ever Slopestyle Gold was taken home by Jamie.

Taku Hiraoka (JPN) performed steadily in the Halfpipe this season and managed to take the Halfpipe title at the US Open. Stale Sandbech (NOR) was a contest machine this season, riding Slope and Pipe contests as if his life depended on it. His reward: A Silver medal in the first Slopestyle Olympics in Sochi and both the Slopestyle and Overall World Tour titles 2014.
13 years old Chloe Kim (USA) was the biggest surprise on Tour this season, as she became the youngest World Snowboard Tour Overall Champion so far.

The 2015/15 Pro Series tour features the most important freestyle disciplines to determine the world’s best rider. These are:

• Halfpipe: the first Olympic snowboarding discipline. The famous U-shaped bowl provides riders with a platform for spectacular, creative manoeuvres.
• Slopestyle: a new Olympic discipline introduced at Sochi 2014. Slopestyle includes a course with several large kickers and park features.
