HOUSTON — A Houston mother is being investigated after posting a viral video that shows her kicking her son out because he voted for Donald Trump in a school mock election.
The elementary school student, who appears to be around 7 years old, told his mother he voted for Trump because he’d seen the president-elect on TV a lot, KHOU reported.
Instead of explaining that wasn’t a good enough reason to vote for someone, the woman packed a little suitcase and made the boy hold a sign saying: “My mom kicked me out because I voted for Donald Trump,” as she booted him to the curb.
The video racked up more than 10 million views in less than 24 hours on Friday and came to the attention of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services.
When questioned by detectives, the woman apologized for the video and said that it was just a joke.
There is no evidence that the woman committed a crime and the boy appeared to be fine, according to the cops.
