Khalistan issue buried in history, say experts

Chandigarh, Nov 10: The issue of Khalistan, a demand for a separate Sikh state, died many years ago. However, there are several forces, both inside and outside the country that believes India can be divided in the name of religion and hatch conspiracies to rake up the issue of Khalistan. Experts believe that meaning of Khalistan has been conceived and disseminated falsely in the public domain by some non-state actors and people sitting thousands of miles away from the country. The Khalistan movement, that peaked in the late 20th century, has claimed hundreds of lives. But its reach has dwindled as more and more youths come up in support of India and reject anti-India forces. Experts say the Sikh community wants to stay in India but it is Pakistan that spread lies and brainwash the youth of the country with the aim to vitiate the atmosphere and create trouble in the country. Pakistan has vested interests in influencing the youth of India but to their disappointment they have failed in almost everything they have tried so far.
