N.Y. authorities receive word of possible al-Qaeda attack around Election Day

Federal officials have told New York City authorities about the possibility of attacks by the al Qaeda militant group around Election Day. Both the NYPD and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are continuing "high level patrols" of all facilities. The NYPD appears to be assessing the threat report at this moment. "We are aware of the information. We have been working with the FBI through the Joint Terrorism Task Force and our Counterterrorism and Intelligence Bureaus," the NYPD said. CBS New reported earlier Friday that U.S. intelligence officials warned local authorities in New York, Texas and Virginia.
