ANTIGO, WISCONSIN — A chilling YouTube video thought to be a new lead in the case of a Wisconsin girl who went missing in 2009 is actually fake.

Fifteen-year-old Kayla Berg vanished almost without a trace on Aug. 11, 2009. Months later, this video was uploaded to the channel Hi Walter, It’s Me Patrick, where it remained in obscurity until only recently.

In the video, “Patrick” describes how he met a girl at a mall while she was shopping. He talks about how they got tired and went back to his place.

Next, it shows Patrick opening a door to reveal a tied up girl inside a dark and dank bathroom. He then closes the door behind him, and the girl can be heard screaming for her life.

People soon started pointing out similarities between Berg and the girl in the video.

The Antigo Police Department also said it resembled her and decided to investigate the clip, reported WAOW Newsline 9. The FBI reportedly also got involved in tracking down the creators of the video.

Antigo officers later found it to be “100 percent fake.” Writing in a post on the Antigo Police Department Facebook page, they said they identified the “video producer/ cameraman, actor and actress in the video” and that the video is unrelated to the case of Berg.
