In September 1991, two months before its theatrical release, Beauty and the Beast
screened as a "Work in Progress" to much acclaim at the 29th New York Film Festival in
Alice Tully Hall. Today, Beauty and the Beast returned to Lincoln Center for the first time
since that screening 25 years ago.To mark the 25th anniversary of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Mrs. Potts herself—nonagenarian national treasure Angela Lansbury—took the stage at Lincoln Center on Sunday to sing the movie's theme song.
Accompanied by composer Alan Menken, Lansbury sang "Beauty and the Beast" after she and the voice cast of the animated film answered questions and reflected on the 25 years since somebody bent unexpectedly.
