VMAs 2016: The 10 most captivating moments

Kanye goes back to his old tricks with lengthy speech on Taylor Swift, Beyonce and violence in America. Beyonce made a bold statement on the red carpet prior to show by bringing the mothers of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Oscar Grant and Trayvon Martin to the VMAs. Drake confessed his love for frequent collaborator Rihanna right before she accepted the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. The ensuing kiss was indeed an awkward moment. Britney Spears returned to the VMAs, taking the stage with G-Eazy for her song "Make Me." R&B standouts Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj came together to perform their collaboration "Side to Side."  Jimmy Fallon gave an impeccable Ryan Lochte impression, following the swimmer's run-in with the law during the 2016 Rio Olympics. Beyonce's performance was magical on a night when she won awards for Video of the Year and Best Female Video. Alicia Keys dedicated her time on stage to present the moon man for Best Male Video to Martin Luther King Jr.  Simone Biles the rest of the U.S. women's gymnastics team had a blast at the VMAs hanging with the likes of Kim Kardashian. Rihanna opened the show, performing hits like "We Found Love" and "Where Have You Been."
