President Obama announced on Friday a plan to create the world's largest protected marine area off the coast of Hawaii.
The action will ban commercial fishing from more than 582,500 sq miles (1.5 million sq km) of the Pacific Ocean.
The expansion covers an area containing more than 7,000 marine species, including a coral that is the world's oldest-known living organism at 4,265 years old.
