Shan villagers face conflict crisis

Recent attacks by the Burmese Army on the Shan State Army North have caused over 30,000 people in Shan state to flee their homes. With little access to basic supplies, those who have fled from the conflict areas are now suffering a humanitarian crisis.

Villagers sheltering in the jungle, after intense fighting forced them to flee, are suffering huge shortages of food, clean water and medicine. Information released by the Shan Women's Action Network and the Shan Human Rights Foundation reveals the displaced villagers hiding in the jungle and suffering because of the rainy season, are dying from dysentery and malaria.
