Recently, a crew returning from patrol was met by a group of children alerting them to a kitten adrift in the waters off Marsala, Sicily.
One of the team members jumped into the sea to retrieve the tiny cat only to find he wasn’t breathing, reports ABC News.
Attempts to revive the kitty using CPR began immediately.
According to ITV News, after a number of tries, the cat expelled water and began to meow.
A vet checked the little one over and gave him a clean bill of health, notes the Irish Examiner.
That kitten has since been named Charlie and adopted by the crew who saved him.
