The grandson of former New York mob boss John Gotti, also named John, was charged on Thursday (August 04) by New York City prosecutors with dealing oxycodone and other drugs.
Gotti was arrested along with six other individuals after police recovered approximately $240,000 (USD) in cash, more than 850 oxycodone and Xanax pills, drug ledgers and other records.
The investigation was dubbed by the police as 'Operation Beach Party'.
All seven are charged with first, second and third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy and second-degree money laundering.
If convicted, Gotti could face up to 25 years to life in prison.
The elder John Gotti died in prison of cancer in 2002.
