2002 Benigno, a young nurse, and Marco, a fortysomething author, are two strangers who happen to be sitting next to each other at a performance of Pina Bausch’s Café Müller. The play is so moving that Marco begins to weep. Noticing his neighbour’s tears, Benigno would like to share in his emotion, but doesn’t dare. A few months later, the two men meet under different circumstances at El Bosque hospital where Benigno works. Marco’s girlfriend Lydia, a professional matador, has fallen into a deep coma following a bullfighting accident. As for Benigno, he’s at the bedside of Alicia, a young dancer who’s also in a coma. When Beningo spots Marco walking by Alicia’s room, he goes right up to him. It’s the beginning of a great friendship that’s not without its trials.
