India BANS Wives and Girlfriends from Cricket World Cup

This World Cup, you may not be seeing any more pictures of India’s batting sensation Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma holding hands at the Sydney Harbour or on the streets of Napier.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has barred wives and girlfriends (WAGs) from accompanying Indian cricketers during the showpiece.

After India’s poor show with the bat against England in the ongoing tri-series on Tuesday, which saw them collapse for a mediocre 153, eventually losing the match by nine wickets, not too many will be protesting the decision.

The issue of WAGs staying with players during an overseas tour is not new but the board had been quite lenient about it.
